 Using generative AI tools like ChatGPT for searching information has been a really interesting experience, especially compared to traditional search engines like Google. One of the biggest benefits is how AI gives you personalized and organized responses instead of making you click through a bunch of links. It feels like having a conversation where you can ask follow-up questions, and it just saves a ton of time. I also think it’s really helpful for breaking down complex topics or brainstorming ideas, which isn’t something Google really does. AI feels more interactive and helpful when you’re trying to learn or be creative.

That being said, I do have some concerns. Sometimes, I worry about how accurate the information is because AI doesn’t always provide sources like Google does. It’s also not great for getting real time updates on news or current events, which is something Google is much better at. Plus, there’s always the chance of getting biased or outdated information since AI is based on the data it’s trained on. While I like how fast and easy it is to get answers, I think it’s important to double check facts and not rely on AI alone.

Honestly, I wouldn’t replace Google with AI completely. Google is still the go-to when I need the latest information or want to verify sources. But for things like explaining tough concepts, generating ideas, or summarizing info, AI is amazing. I think both tools have their strengths, so I’d rather use them together depending on what I need. AI feels like a great complement to traditional search engines rather than a full replacement.

 I checked out some teacher pages on Leon High School’s website ( https://www.leonschools.net/leon ). Publicly, these class pages typically show basic information like the teacher’s name, contact details, class schedule, and sometimes links to external resources or syllabi. Some pages include reminders about upcoming assignments, tests, or events, and others list helpful links for students needing extra support. However, most detailed information like grades, attendance records, or specific homework submissions is password protected, so only parents or students can access it. Working on Assignment 2 using the Canvas group tool was overall convenient, but it had some drawbacks. I liked how easy it was to message other group members and upload files directly into our shared space. However, I disliked the limited notification options, which sometimes caused delays because group members didn't immediately see updates.   Growing up, I experienced distance learning mainly during the pandemic. My school used platforms like Zoom, Google Classroom, and Khan Academy. Zoom was hit or miss depending on the internet connection, but Google Classroom kept things pretty organized. I liked how I could go back and review assignments at my own pace. However, it was hard to stay motivated without in person interaction. I haven’t used newer tools like virtual reality (VR) for learning, but I think it would be really cool to experience something immersive like doing a virtual science lab or taking a history “field trip” through VR. It might’ve helped keep things more engaging and interactive. OERs are basically free learning materials like textbooks, videos, lesson plans, or full courses that teachers and students can use and even adapt without worrying about copyright.
